comes to VNS with an vast hard earned knowledge in the areas of Imaging,
and Artificial Intelligence, and Database. His proven track record doing
both technical development and consultation in MS-Windows, OS/2 and UNIX
over the last 14 years is complemented by his degree in Electrical Engineering,
continued self studies, and membership in SIGGRAPH (the premier professional
society for computer graphics professionals).
His development of fuzzy and standard search software in conjunction with database knowledge make him a highly useful resource when producing on-line information retrieval systems, especially for those in the CD-ROM publishing industry. It is in this capacity which he originally joined VNS. His first assignment with us was specifically to increase search speeds in a system we had taken development over for. Dylan was able to reduce the average search times from 45 minutes to under 35. This was an outstanding feat, he was able to make the software run over 70 times faster, thus allowing our client to have a much more useful product for distribution. Before coming to VNS, Mr. De La Cruz work effort and attention to detail had already proven themselves as a valuable and integral part of any development team. While consulting to Pitney Bowes he was in charge of design and development of that company’s chief mail list management software on the DOS platform. Specifically he alone needed to write import and export code to turn internal database formats to a myriad of other databases, as well as, write search and sorting algorithms specific to that industry. He had to work many long hours to make sure an under staffed product was produced on time. It is that sort of dedication which makes him a dependable credit to the company. Dylan’s imaging knowledge lends itself as a useful resource in the Multimedia arena. He has knowledge of the current available second party libraries, real-time and off line manipulation software, as well as how to build what is not provided for by scratch. This is evidenced very clearly by two of his more recent projects: for IBM, Dylan produced image manipulation libraries to work with scanner software and in conjunction with his work for VNS on the LRS project he was in charge of all TIFF image manipulation and hotspotting in the CD-ROM software using DECOMP. Mr. De La Cruz’s strengths rely heavily on his wide learning in the computer fields and excellent intuitive insight to technical issues. His technical capabilities include Requirements Determination, Software Specification and Design, Database Architecture, QA Testing, Version Control and a wide array of languages (including C, C++, VB, Pascal, Assembler, DBASE, Java and SQL). His heavy knowledge in tough to use technology with outstanding work effort has made him an expert invaluable resource in solving the unique problems of our clients. |
